In early July the homecare sector saw the announcement of the 2020 ‘Top 20 Home Care Provider Awards’ winners on homecare.co.uk. In its 6th annual celebration, these awards recognise the fantastic work of home care providers throughout the UK. With the recognition based on the review scores given by service users and families, to be recognised as a top 20 entry is a fantastic achievement, congratulations to all!

As part of the scores, staff and management are also reviewed, with opportunities to give comments about their timekeeping, performance and duty of care. Unique IQ has helped a number of the top 20 providers meet these high standards, with our home care software assisting with the production of digital care plans, medication administration and scheduling ‘best-matched’ clients and carers.

With over 50% of the top 20 home care providers using Unique IQ’s software rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, the technology has been recognised by the CQC as one of the “robust systems that ensured the service was very reliable.”

The ‘Outstanding’ branch received praised during its latest CQC inspection for its continuous drive to improve quality assurance, with the inspector noting the “the provider had call monitoring systems in place [Unique IQ’s IQ:timecard] to identify any late calls so they could take immediate action to investigate the reasons and inform people.

Through Unique IQ’s care planning software, IQ:careplanner, the ‘best-match’ system has helped the CQC ‘Good’ rated provider match carers to their service users based on needs, preferences, continuity of care and a range of other factors. Reviewers have praised the results of this system with comments about the ‘excellent attention to care’ given by carers, and the ‘interesting chats’ and ‘positive attitudes’ experienced during a visit.

One of the named winners of the West Midlands group, Home Instead Senior Care – Stafford, was praised by service users for their kindness and ‘additional levels of care’, including medication administration, with one review praising the “huge help in administrating medication, all documented and checked”. Using the IQ:timecard MOBILE app, care support workers are able to check medication easily and effectively, ensuring their clients receive the correct dosage. The app also prevents carers from clocking out of their visit in the event there is a mandatory medication response, reducing any instances a dosage is accidentally missed.
