Our history

How it all started..

IQ:timecard and IQ:careplanner were born out of a desire to develop an affordable solution that effectively addresses the headaches inherent to remote and mobile workforce management. Incorporating our advanced technical knowledge and detailed understanding of the challenges of managing a remote workforce, we are now recognised as an innovative and a forward thinking organisation.

Founded in 2003, by Managing Director David Lynes, Unique IQ’s IQ:timecard and IQ:careplanner successfully operates across a range of sectors. We are rapidly growing and recognised for our innovative service capabilities. With a legacy of many years at the forefront of the technology industry, Unique IQ operates both nationally and internationally and place a premium on honesty, commitment and teamwork. With a solution strategically designed to support the ever-changing needs of service providers.

We make remote workforce management easy and understand that managing remote staff effectively not only assists you in gaining greater control and transparency of your remote workforce, but improves communication with staff and reduces unnecessary paperwork thus reducing costs.

David Lynes

Managing Director

David is the founder and Managing Director of Unique IQ Limited and has built the company up over the last 15 years to the success it is today. He has overall responsibility for the growth of the business as well as overseeing the sales and marketing functions. With a real passion for the care sector, David’s vision for Unique IQ is to create software solutions that address the challenges inherent with remote working; for carers in particular, this means making their working lives easier, safer and more productive, in turn creating tangible benefits for the people they care for. In addition, David is a Young Enterprise business advisor and is regularly asked to speak at events across the UK due to his vast experience in providing end to end software solutions. When he isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family.

Cheryl joined Unique IQ in October 2015 with a vast experience in Senior Account Management and process management, having been in the IT industry for a number of years. Following just a year into the role, it became apparent that her experience, commitment and attitude was pivotal to the company and so was promoted to Operations Director in 2016. Cheryl spends her days overseeing all operational functions including the Development Team and Service and Support Teams and is ultimately responsible for service delivery. Cheryl assists David in helping drive the business forward and when not at work, likes shopping, socialising and spending time with her young family.

Phil is Unique IQ’s Finance Director, overseeing all aspects of financial control and accounting. He’s worked in a variety of finance roles for over 25 years, so brings with him a great deal of experience from a number of different industries, as well as from businesses that are backed by venture capital. In his spare time, Phil is a keen golfer, and enjoys cooking and travelling to new places.

Jayne Scarman

Jayne joined Unique IQ as Digital Marketing Manager in 2019, bringing with her over 15 years’ experience in digital content and strategy. With a strong interest in caring industries, Jayne’s previous roles have been in mental health, charities and education, as well as working agency-side with a focus on B2B marketing. At Unique IQ, Jayne is responsible for growing the business via digital channels – building awareness of the company and driving interest in its software solutions. When not at work, Jayne’s a keen crafter and is often found knitting, crocheting and sewing. She also enjoys spending time in her garden and hiking across the countryside.

Mark Robinson

With 22 years’ development experience in software houses and in-house development departments, Mark has worked on many applications (of different sizes) from inception to deployment, acting as technical lead/project manager, from gathering requirements to producing estimates to managing the project delivery from a development perspective.

At Unique IQ, Mark is responsible for our overall technology strategy. Coordinating internal and external stakeholders, supporting with scheduling and estimation, and resolving issues and blockers, Mark ensures that sprints, product development and company goals remain on track.

His hobbies and interests include playing the guitar, listening to all types of music, football, real ales (he is a CAMRA member) and architecture and heritage (belonging to both Leeds civic trust and English Heritage).

Ben has vast product development experience and is responsible for ensuring the stability of the IQ:careplanner system as well as product development to drive the product forward. In his spare time, Ben enjoys cooking, photography, board gaming and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Rita Leitao

QA Lead

Rita brings over a decade of software testing experience to Unique IQ, having worked across various different industries. At Unique IQ she is our gatekeeper for product quality. She loves breaking software so that it can be made the best that it can be!

When not working, Rita can be found spending her time with her husband and with their cat (Fifi). She likes going for walks after work and being able to enjoy the sunny days outside.

She also loves travelling and spending time with her family and friends.

Luke brings over 15 years of computing experience to the role. He is responsible for development of new features including code review and testing before release to clients. In his personal time, Luke enjoys running and cycling in the countryside and spending time with his family and friends.

With 20 years of care and cleaning sector experience, Chris joined Unique IQ as Business Development Manager in July 2020. With a majority of the 20 years spent working directly for service providers, Chris is passionate that the solutions delivered provide full benefit to the customer and their customers too. Chris is responsible for bringing new customers on board and ensuring that their requirements and Unique IQ's business plan are aligned. Outside of work, Chris is very competitive and enjoys anything motorsport related, especially MotoGP being a huge Valentino Rossi fan, as well as a round of golf from time to time. All of this when his identical twin daughters allow of course...

Elanor is a client services professional with seven years' experience as an Account Manager in the digital and tech world. She acts as a strategic partner for our clients, working to understand their business, interrogate their requirements, and make their experience working with Unique IQ as smooth as possible.

Ellie is a not-so-secret history geek, and spends her free time sewing her own historical costumes and taking part in living history events around the country.

Patrycja (Trish) joined Unique IQ as a Project Manager in 2020, bringing years of experience and care sector knowledge. Patrycja has worked with hundreds of care providers and local authorities nationwide throughout her career. With customer satisfaction at heart, her main priority is to understand the individual requirements of each and every customer she has the pleasure of working with, and ensuring the implemented solutions work effectively and efficiently. When not planning or implementing, as an experienced painter, Patrycja enjoys most creative mediums. She’s also a keen explorer and loves travelling with her family and friends.

As a Project Manager / Business Analyst, Nigel’s main responsibility is to support our clients’ migration to our systems and help them maximise the benefits. Nigel has a wealth of IT experience gained over 35 years within the financial services industry. His interest moved to the care sector in 2015 and he has worked with over 50 care agencies since then. Alongside his role at Unique IQ, he has an ongoing advisory / operational role at three care agencies and is therefore well aware of the day-to-day challenges that our clients face. Away from work, Nigel enjoys watching sport, primarily football and speedway, and is a season ticket holder at Aston Villa.

She is passionate about learning and helping others to make the most of IT and business systems. When she is not at work, Janice loves to bake cakes, and to feed people in general.

A consummate customer services professional, Keeley is the friendly voice at the end of the phone who deals with our support calls. If there’s an issue, query or suggestion with one of our products, she’s the person to speak to. In her spare time, Keeley likes to while away the evening in her hot tub, along with her partner, step-children and a cheeky prosecco.

Her role is to provide first class support to customers and to raise any issues with our development team as required. She's enjoying a return to the care sector and empathising with our customers comes second nature. Outside of work, Claire loves to create! She likes any kind of making and doing, from models, to crafts, to DIY, and a bit of baking if she has time.
