Two new AI tools on the way, and more behind them

July has been a busy development month for Unique IQ. Two significant releases are close, and there is a good deal behind them.

If you want the short version, all of it points at the same two problems: the amount of time providers lose to paperwork, and how hard it is to prove the care in the plan is the care being delivered. Here is what has been worth your time this month.

IQ:careaudit is about to see the whole care day

You may already know IQ:careaudit as the tool that reads visit notes and medication records in real time and flags risks before they escalate. It is about to become considerably more powerful.

Soon IQ:careaudit will go beyond the notes to audit the care itself. It brings together what the care plan said should happen, what actually happened, clock ins and clock outs, tasks completed elsewhere in the day, and, importantly, what did not happen at all. All of it on a single dashboard, with trends mapped back to compliance.

Visit notes tell you part of the story. This tells you the whole one.

For providers that means three things. You can see the quality of care rather than just the quality of recording. You can spot patterns early, across a carer, a client or a branch. And when an inspector asks how you know the care in the plan is the care being delivered, you have evidence rather than assurance.

IQ:capture is almost here

Every care record starts as a conversation. An assessment, a care plan review, a supervision, a safeguarding discussion. The detail in those moments matters, and yet someone always has to turn it into a record afterwards, often hours later and often from memory.

IQ:capture is our new care transcription software. It records the conversation as it happens, transcribes it accurately, then produces a clear, structured record. You choose the type of meeting and IQ:capture formats it to suit, whether that is an initial assessment, a care plan review, a supervision or a safeguarding record. You get a summary and the full transcript, ready to export to PDF, Word or email in a few clicks.

Three things set it apart from the generic transcription tools now appearing in the sector:

  • AI care transcripton recording on phonePrivacy first. You choose whether a recording is stored locally or in the cloud. For sensitive conversations such as safeguarding or grievance discussions, that choice matters.
  • Built in, not bolted on. No third party tool, no data moving somewhere you cannot see.
  • Care specific templates. Designed around CQC expectations, presented in your own branding, with the option to build your own.

It also works with IQ:careassist. The summary from a care consultation feeds straight into care plan creation, taking you from conversation to completed, person-centred care plan in minutes rather than hours. No re-keying, no lost detail.

IQ:capture is in its final pilot stages and launching very soon. Register your interest and you will be among the first to see it.

Built with you, not just for you

Our roadmap is not written in a room by itself, many start as a customer conversation, and that is genuinely how most of what we build begins.

Our development team sit close to the sector rather than at arm’s length from it. When a provider tells us that something takes too long, or that a report does not quite show what an inspector actually asks for, that feedback goes straight into the roadmap. Sometimes it becomes a small change nobody notices. Sometimes, as with the two tools above, it becomes a product.

So if there is something that would make a real difference to how your team works, we want to hear it. That is not a figure of speech.

Good Care Month

July is Good Care Month, and we spent it doing what the campaign asks for: talking about care work as a career worth having rather than a job people fall into.

Our video content this month focused on the people behind the visits, and on the simple point that good care is built by good carers who feel supported, trusted and properly equipped. Technology has a part to play in that, though only a supporting one.

Ireland: home support regulation is finally coming

For providers in the Republic of Ireland, this is the significant one. The Health (Amendment) (Home Support Providers) Bill 2025 will introduce statutory regulation of home support for the first time, bringing the sector under HIQA oversight.

For well-run providers this is good news. It raises the floor, professionalises the market and rewards those who already record properly and evidence what they do. For anyone still working from paper or spreadsheets, it is a deadline forming on the horizon.

We have published a full explainer on what the Bill covers and what providers should be doing now.

Still going strong: the CQC readiness checklist

Our free interactive CQC Inspection Readiness Checklist remains one of the most used resources we have ever published. It benchmarks your service against the areas inspectors focus on, across all five domains and 50 evidence requirements, then gives you a live readiness score and a priority actions table.

Looking ahead

We are out and about over the next few months. You will find us at the Sussex Care Showcase in September, and at Care Show Birmingham at the NEC in October. We hope to catch up with many of you there.

Beyond that, expect the IQ:capture and IQ:careaudit launches shortly, and many more exciting developments coming in August.
