On Thursday 16th April 2026, our Owner and CEO David Lynes joined fellow portfolio leaders at Future Planet Capital’s Regional Portfolio Event in Birmingham, alongside our COO Cheryl Guest. The evening brought together investors, founders and operators for a keynote on AI and digital technology, exploring what it really takes to turn bold ideas into scalable, impactful businesses.

Future Planet Capital – A Room Built for Bold Ideas

The event was hosted by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors on the top floor of the Colmore Building on Colmore Row, with panoramic views right across Birmingham. It’s a fitting setting for a conversation about ambition and innovation, and it drew an impressive mix of founders, investors and sector leaders from across the Future Planet Capital portfolio.

The keynote set the tone for the evening, focusing on AI and digital technology, the innovation it’s unlocking, the real impact it’s creating, and the backing founders need to scale confidently. It’s a conversation close to everything we’re doing at Unique IQ.

Bringing AI Into the Product, and Into the Business

David spoke about two things that matter deeply to us. The first was how we’ve introduced AI into our product in a way that makes a genuine difference to care providers, not as a bolt-on or a marketing headline, but as something built natively into the platform.

IQ:careassist helps care teams co-author care plans with AI support. IQ:careaudit reviews visit notes in real time, flagging risks before they escalate. Both solutions represent early innovations in the homecare software space, built on a shared principle: applying AI where it matters most, with a human always in the loop.

An AI-First Business, Not Just an AI-Enabled Product

The second thread was just as important. Being AI-first isn’t only about what you ship. It’s about how you operate as a business.

David shared how we’re embedding AI thinking across the company, from how our teams work day to day, to how we build, support and partner with customers. It’s a cultural shift as much as a technical one, and it’s already changing how quickly we can respond, how deeply we can understand our customers, and how confidently we can plan for what’s next.

Why Events Like This Matter

Having both David and Cheryl at the event was a reminder of how much these conversations matter, not just for sharing what we’re doing, but for hearing how other portfolio businesses are thinking about the same challenges. Thank you to Future Planet Capital for a brilliantly put-together evening, and to Irwin Mitchell for hosting us with such a stunning view of the city.

For care providers watching the AI conversation unfold, the message from the evening was clear. The businesses that will lead aren’t the ones chasing the hype. They’re the ones putting intelligence to work on the problems that actually matter.

Final Thoughts

At Unique IQ, we’re proud to be building a product, and a business, that reflects exactly that. Our thanks again to Future Planet Capital for the invitation, and for continuing to back bold ideas with the confidence they deserve.
