Looking Back at 2024: A Year of Movement, Momentum, and Milestones

Last Updated: December 20, 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, we’re filled with pride, reflecting on a year of incredible growth, innovation, and community impact that the Unique IQ team have delivered. This year has been nothing short of transformative for our business and the people we serve, from redefining our brand to spearheading impactful initiatives and driving new developments in care technology.

The end of every year is a great time to pause, reflect on the past year, and celebrate key highlights; as a team, we are often guilty of carrying on without taking stock of what we have achieved.

In this blog post, we thought we would do something a little different: point out a few of our key highlights as well as closing comments from David Lynes, our Founder, our Operations Director, Cheryl Guest, and our Head of Marketing, Gemma Ordidge. So, on with the reminiscing…

A New Look for Unique IQ
July saw the launch of our brand-new website, a milestone that represented much more than a digital refresh. It marked the next chapter in our journey, designed to make it easier than ever for home care providers to find the right care management software solutions. With a fresh, modern look and user-friendly features, our site reflects exactly who we are: innovators dedicated to simplifying and enhancing care management.

Making Connections Across the UK
This year, our team hit the road and exhibited and attended many industry exhibitions across the UK. From the London Care Show in April to the Birmingham Care Show in October, as well as Care Roadshows from Glasgow to Epsom, we connected with hundreds of care businesses, all unique in their set-up but unified in their drive to deliver the best care they can. These events were more than showcases; they were opportunities to listen, learn, and share our vision for the future of care.

Championing Women in Tech
2024 also saw the launch of an exciting new content series: Cheryl Guest’s “Women in Tech” opinion series. Cheryl, a passionate advocate for women in technology and leadership, has just begun sharing her experiences, insights, and advice, and 2025 will see the series grow and discuss complex topics to help break barriers for women when it comes to working in technology.

Supporting the Care Community
Our commitment to the care sector extends far beyond technology. This year, we continued our partnership with the National Care Workers’ Charity, making a tangible difference through fundraising and awareness. This year, our Head of Marketing, Gemma Ordidge, picked up the challenge baton from David (look at some of his crazy cycling escapades here), who braved the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and nearly doubled her fundraising target.

Our commitment to our local community didn’t stop there. In December, we launched The Big Give Toy Drive, supporting Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank and The Salvation Army Redditch. Thanks to an incredible effort from our team and 11 local businesses, we raised £2,000 and collected countless toys, spreading joy to families in need.

While we are still planning what the next steps of community support will be in 2025, one thing for sure is that they will be BIG. David already has a new challenge in his sights, and while we are keeping shtum until 2025, he has released a teaser; take a look here.

Advocating for Care Workers
September brought an inspiring highlight as our founder, David Lynes, and Gemma attended The Care Workers’ Charity Advisory Board and Care Worker Champion Project event at the House of Lords. The discussions and connections forged there have fuelled our passion to help create lasting change for care workers. We are very excited to see what’s next for this project. A More Vocal Leadership Team
This year, we leapt into the spotlight. From October onward, our leadership team became more vocal on social media, offering behind-the-scenes insights, quite literally, as both Cheryl and David have been behind the camera quite a few times this year, as well as sharing opinions, and engaging in meaningful discussions about the future of home care. It’s been a fantastic way to connect with our audience and add a personal touch to our presence. And this is just the start; by the end of 2025, you will feel like you are on first-name terms with our leadership team.

Product Innovation That Delivers
On the product front, we’ve made significant strides to improve the tools care providers rely on. We dramatically increased the speed of our carer app and added the ability to include client and carer photographs, enabling more consistent and personalised care. Our 2025 roadmap is set, and as a team, we are all incredibly excited about what we have in store. As new features within our home care management software are released, we will be sure to post product insights and, more importantly, explain what product advancements mean when it comes to business efficiencies.

We now pass over to our leadership team to find out what 2024 meant to them.

David Lynes, Founder:
2024 has been a defining year for Unique IQ, and as I reflect on everything we’ve accomplished, I am filled with immense pride for the journey we’ve undertaken. This year, we have not only pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in care technology but also deepened our commitment to the people and communities we serve.

From unveiling a refreshed brand identity to enhancing our software capabilities, every milestone has been driven by a singular purpose — to empower care providers to deliver exceptional outcomes. But what stands out most for me is the incredible team behind it all. Their passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication have turned ambitious goals into tangible achievements.

For me, one of the highlights of 2024 was seeing our commitment to the care sector extend beyond technology. Whether it was engaging with providers at exhibitions, fundraising for vital causes such as The Care Workers Charity, or supporting local initiatives like the Big Give, every step we’ve taken has been underpinned by a desire to make a meaningful impact.

Looking ahead to 2025, I am excited and optimistic by the opportunities on the horizon. With a clear roadmap and ambitious plans, we are more determined than ever to lead the way in care technology, continue building meaningful relationships, and support care providers in delivering life-changing services. To everyone who has been part of our journey—thank you. Here’s to an impactful and inspiring 2025 together!”

Cheryl Guest, Operations Director:
“The end of the year is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible journey we’ve been on this year at Unique IQ. This year has been a blend of challenges, growth, and remarkable achievements — each one a testament to the resilience, creativity, and commitment of our team.

We’ve introduced new features and enhancements to our software that directly improve the lives of care providers and the people they support. Our drive for innovation has never been stronger, and seeing the positive impact of our work motivates us daily.

This year, we’ve worked closer than ever with our clients, listening to their needs and tailoring solutions to meet the evolving demands of the care sector. Collaboration has been at the heart of everything we’ve done.

Above all, we’ve stayed focused on our mission — to make a meaningful difference in the care sector. Knowing that our work contributes to better outcomes for care providers and their clients is the greatest reward.

As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited for the opportunities to come. There’s more innovation to deliver, more connections to build, and more impact to make.

To our team, clients, and partners — thank you for being part of our journey this year. Here’s to a new year filled with even more achievements, growth, and purpose.”

Gemma Ordidge, Head of Marketing:
“When I look back on 2024 as we approach our last working day of the year, I can’t quite believe how quickly the time has gone. So much has happened, from new product releases to attending events up and down the country to planning and launching new opinion series. If you were to give me a list in January of all the things that we would achieve, I would have said that it is not physically possible!

My personal highlights for 2024 relate to our fundraising and community benefit activities. I set myself a challenge for 2024 to get involved with a physical activity to raise money, and I am buzzing to see that goal ticked off. The Yorkshire Three Peaks for the Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) was one of the hardest challenges that I have done in a long time; it was a real struggle, but the sense of achievement was like no other. I don’t know what I will do in 2025, but I am determined to do something out of my comfort zone to help raise more money for the CWC.

The best bit is that it feels like we have only just started! Plans for 2025 are well underway, and it is fab to be part of a team with so much excitement. Here’s to 2025 – I wonder what we will be talking about this time next year!
