This October, Unique IQ’s founder and CEO, David Lynes, will be trading the office for the open road as he heads to Australia to represent Great Britain in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
Taking place along the breathtaking Great Ocean Road between 16th – 25th October 2025, the event brings together 600 of the world’s top amateur cyclists for a series of endurance challenges, including a 23km coastal Time Trial from Lorne to the Memorial Arch at Eastern View. The course is a test of pure speed and focus, with riders setting off one minute apart in a solo race against the clock to cover the distance as fast as possible.
Where it all began
For David, his cycling journey started in an unexpected place, during COVID, as a way to destress and stay active. What began as a hobby quickly grew into a passion.
Not long after, David took on the 48-hour cycling challenge, raising money for The Care Workers Charity. The challenge revealed not just his physical endurance, but his competitive streak, something that would soon lead him to a much bigger goal.
Driven by determination and a love for the sport, David joined the Droitwich Cycling Club, where he found a community of supportive and equally passionate riders. Under the guidance of his coach, Simon Belden, David began structured training with the aim of qualifying for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
In May 2025, he competed in the Cyprus Gran Fondo, where he qualified 4th in his age category, earning his spot to represent Team Great Britain on the world stage.
Grit, determination, and the spirit of Unique IQ
David’s story is one of perseverance, qualities that also define Unique IQ’s journey as a company.
Just as in business, cycling demands resilience, discipline and a relentless drive to improve. Every climb, every sprint, every setback, it’s all part of the process of getting stronger and going further.
“It’s an incredible honour to put on the GB kit and represent my country,” says David. “Cycling has taught me so much about focus, persistence and balance — lessons that I carry into leading Unique IQ every day.”
At Unique IQ, those same values underpin everything we do, from developing innovative home care technology to supporting our partners in delivering outstanding care. Like David our mission is about constant progress and never losing sight of the goal.
