A pivotal moment as the UK moves out of lockdown

By David Lynes, CEO and Founder of Unique IQ

I find myself in a reflective mood as I write this. The UK is starting to gradually come out of lockdown. Those who have been shielding for so long can start to go tentatively back out into the world. And many of us are starting to enjoy what we might now class as “normal” – finally able to spend time with loved ones we’ve longed to see, albeit without the hugs.

It feels like a pivotal moment.

In preparation for a world that feels like it’s on the brink of flourishing once more, we are focusing on our people.

It is at this time of year when we do our annual appraisals with the team. This year more than ever, these have been enjoyable and insightful experiences. And it made me realise just how far we have come.

The last 18 months have been a period of enormous growth for us, even against the backdrop of the pandemic. Our team has swelled to around 4 times the size it once was, and we’ve brought in substantial expertise across all areas of our business. Some real heavyweights have joined the team in customer service and training, project management, marketing and sales, and above all, of course, software development.

Time to recalibrate

Now is the time where we recalibrate, putting in place new rhythms that will serve us well into the future. The team is hard at work putting the finishing touches on a major step forward for our home care software. One that we hope will serve the home care sector for many years to come as it adapts to meet the growing and changing needs of the population that receives care.

And we are making sure that our team have everything they need to adapt to what comes next. As such, we have embarked on a programme of workplace wellbeing, with a fleet of newly-trained mental health first aiders, recognising the importance of supporting people to be their best and whole selves at work.

I’ve been quoted before as saying that Unique IQ wouldn’t be where it is now had it not been for the driving force behind it: the people. That is as true today as it was in the early days of the company. It is our people who are continuing to drive us forward as we get ready for the next phase of Unique IQ. I can’t wait to show it to you.
